Fatigue & Damage Tolerance Analysis

Fatigue Life Estimation

At Quantum Point we have developed a total fatigue life prediction methodology of aircraft structural components under different load spectrums. Our proven methodology combines the finite element method (FEM) and strain-life methods to predict fatigue crack initiation life and fatigue crack growth model based on the strain energy density (SED) method.

Crack Growth & Propagation

Our subject matter experts have the ability to predict crack growth development rate to a greater extent as a result of fatigue to evaluate fatigue life aircraft structures. We have the ability to develop Machine Learning Algorithm (MLA) based techniques for prediction of crack growth rate using Radial Basis Function Neural Network (RBF-NN). We utilize these machine learning techniques to estimate the fatigue life of a crack growth in any aircraft component or structure with each increment of crack growth for each loading cycle. Then we apply safety or scatter factors to calculate the life to account for any uncertainty and variability associated with fatigue.

Damage Tolerance

We analyze Damage tolerance in three parts including calculation of the residual strength diagram to obtain the permissible crack size, calculation of the crack growth rate, and calculation of the inspection interval. We gather material property data and geometry factors to analyze any fracture or crack growth problem. Our proven approach describes the integration of crack growth rates in terms of constant-amplitude loading and cycle-by-cycle counting with variable-amplitude loading. Then we conclude with information on the classification of sources of errors in damage tolerance analysis. Our subject matter experts are highly experienced in performing fracture, fatigue and damage tolerance studies of aircraft structures at both micro and macro levels of application.

Airworthiness Certification

We aid in obtaining airworthiness certifications for all types of civil and military aviation hardware including planes and parts. We collaborate with agencies such as Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) or Organization Designation Authorizations (ODAs) authorities to perform select tasks related to airworthiness certification and other responsibilities.   We help to ensure that aircraft are ready to fly and in good operational condition prior to beginning routine flights. We assist owners with this certification process when a new or used aircraft has changed ownership or is planning to become operational again after being grounded for some time.   We have extensive experience in this process of the airworthiness certification process.

Together we can do more. Feel free to say hello.
